We would like to thank the following funders for their generous support of the New Americans Agenda:
Carnegie Corporation
The Carnegie Corporation of New York was created by Andrew Carnegie in 1911 to promote "the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding." Carnegie's National Program hopes to build on efforts already in place in support of teacher education, school reform, literacy, and immigrant integration. Grantmaking activities will include support of demonstration programs, promising innovations and capacity-building in selected institutions as well as research, communications, policy analysis and advocacy. The Corporation's work on immigration issues focuses on increasing integration of immigrants and disconnected populations in the United States into civil society while strengthening civic education and smoothing the pathway to citizenship--helping newcomers understand what it means to be an American.
Hildreth Stewart Charitable Foundation
The Hildreth Stewart Charitable Foundation has long supported immigrant communities throughout Massachusetts. In addition to his years of support for the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, the Foundation is currently working with national immigration organizations to create the National Immigrant Bond Fund which seeks to reunify families torn apart through immigration raids.
The Clowes Fund
The Clowes Fund, a family foundation, seeks to enhance the common good by encouraging organizations and projects that help to build a just and equitable society, create opportunities for initiative, foster creativity and the growth of knowledge, and promote appreciation of the natural environment. The Fund pursues these goals by awarding grants in three areas: the arts, education and social services. It also recognizes the special value of efforts that create links among these areas. The Clowes Fund has a special interest in supporting projects that strengthen the communities in which Clowes family members and the foundation's directors live and work.
Partners HealthCare
Since its inception in 1994, Partners HealthCare has continued and expanded the long tradition of community commitment that is at the heart of each of its institutions. Focusing on their specific communities and populations, each hospital's commitments are consistent with the system's community benefit mission, adopted by the Partners Board of Trustees in January 1995:
Partners is committed to working with community residents and organizations to make measurable, sustainable improvements in the health status of underserved populations.
Partners not only has a commitment to long term organizational and financial investment in programs, but also to a deep engagement with communities to listen, learn, and continuously improve our work together.
